David R. Bird - Senior Advisor David is founder and chairman of UKNCSA. He has over 20 years of IT experience and 10 years of planning, implementing and managing information security programmes and cloud infrastructure. Having undertaken digital transformation projects David is available in the capacity of Virtual CISO covering all aspects of developing your effective cyber security programme.

David also specialises in providing the Facilitator Service for the Incident Response Training module.

As an experienced coach and trainer, David is able to give one-on-one or group live coaching for successful CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSP, EU GDPR Foundation & Practitioner, CITSM, and AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps, AWS Security examination preparation. Additional training for JIRA, NIST, ISO 27001, Cybersecurity for Industrial Control Systems and SAP ERP FICO.

Cyber Security & Compliance

As developer of the Unified Cyber Security Framework and author of many of the articles and papers found on this website, David has a wide range of expertise to draw upon when building your cyber security programme. The UCSF maps robust cyber controls found in CIS 20 and NIST 800:53 to compliance regimes such as Cyber Essentials, GDPR, PCI DSS, ISO 27001 and others. David is in a strong position to help your company not only build a more secure environment, but also comply with the various regulatory bodies and compliance regimes. Implemented ISO27001 working from Stage 1 Audit through to certification.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional)

David is an experienced cloud solutions architect, specialising in AWS and can plan your cloud adoption and migration using a secure methodology. He is also available for project work on AWS developments.

As a certified TOGAF practitioner David is both pragmatic and diligent in aligning cyber security and cloud architectures to your business objectives. His professional planning procedures ensure that all stakeholder concerns are properly addressed ensuring successful implementations.

Telecommunications and IoT

David is an international Speaker on securing not only IT but also OT / IIoT systems. As an active member of the IET he is working with other senior members on drafting standards and guidance procedures. He also serves on the BCS DevSecOps committee. As chapter leader for the London IoT Security Institute's London Chapter he contributes to the development of the IoTSI framework.

David keeps abreast of Network Transformation with particular reference to 5G and its new use-cases and industry standards. Experience in ETSI standards for protocols and interfaces. Maintains connections with members of ETSI, ENISA, EEMA, ISSE, and GSMA. David attends the EEMA briefings and is a Senior Advisor at CSCIS with the responsibility of developing cyber strategic policy. David also participates in the Parliamentary Think Tank at the Houses of Parliament.
